Keeping pace
with the industrial modernization Mazhar Zorlu Holding, starting from the sixties,
invested heavily in various activities and became a pioneer in the country in a number of
fields thus proving to the world the success of Turkish industrialists.
The activities of Mazhar Zorlu Holding Industrial Group are focused mainly on areas such
as textiles, agro industry, building materials and services pertaining to infrastructure
investments.
Group companies, each of which is a pioneer in its respective field, made their debut in
the market place starting from the year 1959. Ege Plast for instance, was founded in 1973.
The company introduced many new products to the market and became the flag ship of the
group and a leading player in the plastics sector. It has been the first manufacturer in
Turkey of Square Section Rain Gutter, Waste Water Pipes with Fixed Gaskets and
Attachments, 40 mm Waste Water Pipes and their fittings, Single and Double Layer Roofing,
PVC Conduit Pipes and fittings, Plastic Shutters and Roller Blinds, PEP pipes and fittings
for agro industry, PEA Pipes and fittings, ASPVC Pipes and fittings, Sewage Pipes, 400 mm
PVC Pipes, Natural Gas Pipes, triple and quadruple PVC multipliers for telecommunication
cables, PE triple multipliers.
As far as raw materials are concerned, one member of the Group was the first in Turkey to
manufacture the compound used by the makers of bottles.
By 1984 MERMERÝT; an artificial cultured marble factory started

Ege Plast, the flag ship of Mazhar
Zorlu Holding was founded in 1973. As the years went by the company expanded rapidly by
keeping pace with the technological developments and the market demands and introducing
several new items to the consumers. Ege Plast was the first company in its field to
receive the ISO 9001 Certificate. This assures product quality, conformity with relevant
standards and customer satisfaction.
Product range of Ege Plast covers around seven thousand different items and the company
has an annual processing capacity of 50.000 Tones. In addition to the activities in the
fields of manufacturing and distributing all types of pipes and fittings, bottle
compounds, Ege Plast is also involved in the production of items used in construction and
agro industries. Of such items, some examples are plastic pipes of all kinds ( clean
water, waste water, irrigation, drainage, drip irrigation, sanitary, ground heating,
natural gas and well pipes) and their fittings, compounds for water and oil bottles.
In terms of its manufacturing capacity and product range, Ege Plast is one of the largest
operations in its field in Europe. The company is also involved in the trading of raw
material for plastics. 31 % of the shares of the company is traded publicly in the Stock
Exchange. Ege Plast has a share of 25 % in the market for plastic pipes. Marketing of Ege
Plast products is conducted by Ege Yildiz. |

and investments. The organization functions on the tasks of sales and marketing of plastic
frames as well as other products manufactured by the members of Mazhar Zorlu Group.
Besides these activities, the company also produces all types of PE and electrical conduit

MERMERIT...
A NEW CONCEPT IN MARBLE BUSINESS
Mermerit is a company which produces items made out
of cultured marble, an alternative to natural marble. Although Mermerit is merely the name
of the company, because it is the most prominent one in its field, the market has adopted
the word Mermerit as a general name for cultured marble items. Mermerit is proud of giving
its name to an entire sector. The Mermerit line of items incorporates in their bodies all
the components of natural marble. But beyond that it has the following advantages which
natural marble does not have; light weight, possibility of monoblock designs, convenience
in measuring and assembly.
Mermerit is a composition of marble powder and polyester resins. It was first used in 1982
for the production of sinks and bathtubs. Further areas of utilization came into the
picture in later years. These were, working surfaces, kitchen sinks and cabinet doors.
These items are successfully used in the fitted kitchens marketed by Ege Yildiz.
Mermerit presently produces various sanitary wares. The product range consists of items
which has the appearance of marble, granite and onyx or just plain. Always keeping the
concept of quality in mind, Mermerit is patented in Germany and is the recipient of a
Quality Certificate of that same country. Mermerit is manufactured at modern facilities in
Izmir and a sizable volume of its output is exported. |
